Ultrasound scanning
IME has its own ultrasound scanner in La Ràpita. Ultrasound shows muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints in real time without radiation, helping the Radiology, Orthopaedics and Physiotherapy teams guide diagnosis and follow how an injury is healing.
How it is used at the centre
- Assessing tendons, muscles and ligaments after an injury
- Monitoring progress during recovery
- Complementing the physical examination during the consultation
What the scan is like
A gel is applied to the skin and a probe is moved over the area being examined. It is painless and uses no ionising radiation. Ask us which scans are available and whether you need a doctor's request.
