If you need an operation

When you and your specialist agree on surgery, IME organises the process: booking the operating theatre, pre-operative tests (blood tests, ECG and the pre-operative assessment are done at the centre; the chest X-ray is done elsewhere with a referral) and, if you are insured, the medical report your insurer needs to authorise the operation.

The operation takes place at a partner hospital, which we confirm when it is scheduled. Afterwards, nursing care, the start of rehabilitation and follow-up visits with your specialist are arranged in La Ràpita.

Hip surgery: from Hospital Clínic de Barcelona to La Ràpita

Dr Luis Ramírez Núñez is a hip surgeon at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and coordinator of the Hip Unit at Joint Clinic in Barcelona. At IME he sees patients from the Terres de l'Ebre area with hip pain, dysplasia, femoroacetabular impingement, labral tears or osteoarthritis, and follow-up before and after surgery takes place in La Ràpita.

A coordinated team

The orthopaedic surgeons work alongside the centre's Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Neurophysiology (EMG) and Radiology services, so tests and treatment can be completed without changing centres.
